As Much Energy As Matter

As Much Energy As Matter
“I’ve been making impromptu letterforms on the pavements (and down the ginnels) of Manchester and Trafford. Massive, they are.”
As Much Energy As Matter collects the results of various derives in Manchester with a bag of paint, looking for fly-tipped rubbish to arrange and design as letterforms. Also includes written evidence why this qualifies the author as both Architect and Type Designer, alongside poetic vignettes recording the collaborative aspect of an impromptu public art practice in inner city Manchester in broad daylight.
Positioned at the intersection of Graphic Design, Environmental Activism, and Architecture, the work examines how contextually sourced waste can act as both constraint and catalyst in communication.
